Where is the best pizza in Chicago?

I know Chicago is known for the thick crust but where to go if you prefer more of the thin crust?

Re: Where is the best pizza in Chicago?

  • I usually order thin crust from Art of Pizza on Ashland.  Pequod's on Clybourn is good too.
  • Thanks for the tip;-)
  • D'Augostino's down the block from Wrigley Field has the best thin crust pizza ever.
  • Great Lake in Andersonville was voted the best pizza by GQ.  The pizza is the best I have had in Chicago, if not anywhere.  This is thin crust at its finest.  However, expect really long waits and a tiny venue.  Better shot at being served if it is warm out with outdoor seating.

Other places I like for thin crust are La Madia, Quartino, Piece, and Santullos.

(I am originally from NY and prefer thin crust)

  • Be careful of thin crust suggestions where it is Chicago style thin crust, the crust is like a cracker.  Sorry folks, that is not real thin crust.

  • if you are looking for thin crust pizza, piece on north ave is awesome! they brew their own beer, too. sooooo yummy :)
  • Bacci!! or Art of Pizza (but that just might be because I know the owner)

  • Vito and Nicks!  Their claim to fame is the cracker thin crust...New Yorkers obviously know nothing about pizza! Stick out tongue  Just kidding!!!

  • Piece is the best if you're going to hang out there.  The pies are not always round, so the slices are sometimes oddly shaped, but they taste great. I'd say the crust is in between the hand-tossed and cracker style. Plus they make their own beer, and they serve Strongbow cider (which is my favorite and kind of hard to find)

My Pi (it's actually the pi symbol, like... math) makes excellent cracker thin crust and deep dish

Santullo's thick crust is more like NY style - it's even cut into huge slices you can fold over.

  • I agree that Piece is the best in Chicago!  I love their pizza, beer, and the atmosphere.  You can choose if you want a red or white pizza and then add on whatever toppings that you want... and there are A LOT to choose from.  Definitely go there!!!
  • I agree with Piece... Sappori Nappoli on Belmont is one of my favorites though!  It isn't like NY style thin crust (really, nothing is in chicago... just like bagels!), it's brick oven with fresh toppings.  They also have amazing bolognese pasta and arugala salad!
  • Piece!
