Anyone else addicted to store "points"?

I finally just redeemed some airmiles after about 8 years of collecting.  I didn't really have a lot of miles for the amount of time I've had a card but I redeemed about half of what I had and got some Rona and itunes cards.

I've also never spent any of my Shoppers points so I had about 80,000.  This weekend they gave you extra money if you redeemed your points so I went a got an awesome new camera.  You have to be careful with Shoppers since most of their stuff is overpriced to begin with but when they have their 20x the points events, I stock up on what's on sale.

DH used to make fun of me for my "points" but he's pretty impressed with the $200 camera that I only had to pay the taxes on.  Last night he wondered if he could get a credit card with some rewards.  Um yeah, why wouldn't you?  I've been telling him forever that he needs to be buying all his gas with a rewards CC.

I think I'm just rambling here but what are your favorite points/rewards cards?  And what have you gotten for 'free'?

I'm a Shopper's point addict.  I'm in the Optimum Plus club.  I've redeemed the $200 at least 3 times, with a few $100 in there too.

We got at least half the prizes for our Stag and Doe using my Shoppers Points (including a Wii).

I've got a standard rewards Visa, but used to have a Starbucks Visa.  I got 1% back in "Starbucks money".  That was nice.  I never spent any of my own money there, just whatever I'd earned.  Sadly, they've discontinued the card.  MH has a cashback Visa.

  • We have an airmiles mastercard.  Since I can charge a lot of things for work that I get reimbursed for we pay a fee to collect rewards faster.  We usually earn enough in one year to get one of us to Mexico for free.

I have a Superstore Mastercard so I buy everything there using their credit card and once in awhile save $20 on my groceries.

    Those are our best two.

  • I love my RBC Avion card.We have flown to neighbour provinces twice for free and now we have enough to fly down to Maimi already and we have only had the card for 2 years.

I redeem my airmiles for Starbuck Cards. We have a "rule" that we are not allowed to buy coffee out unless its on a starbucks cards we either got for a gift or redeemed points for. It helps keep us on budget.

I have never done the Shoppers Optimun Points.

we've flown multiple times on our Aeroplan points (including to Ireland). Haven't ever redeemed my airmiles, Shoppers or HBC points though. I should look into what I can get for them

  • We have airmiles, aeroplan, and shoppers optimum.  We have yet to redeem on any of the cards.

A bonus for us though, DH built our fence and deck, plus the neighbour paid him to build their fence and we got aeroplan points for everything.  we got close to 1,500.  can't wait to see what we get from that!
