I have not gone to my current dentist for very long, maybe a couple years? Well, I've found they have been really, really impatient with me over the past 6 months since our house fire. I can admit I haven't been the model patient, cancelling my cleaning and rescheduling now for the third time today, a crown. However, I think my circumstances are different than the average joe. I had to reschedule my crown today because I just got a phone call that the contractors are coming tomorrow between 9 and noon to FINALLY put doors on our house! We've been living here for over a month now and do not have our front door or back door on yet, which means easy access to any potential intruders! So anyways, when I called today the secretary was really a jerk! "Well can't you reschedule the contractor?" well, no...I can't actually. "Well can't you tell them that time doesn't work"...hm, again, no. I am at their mercy. I'm a little bit upset because instead of at least pretending to be sympathetic to our situation and working with me they are treating me like I'm a deliquent. I think this is really making me want to cancel all my upcoming appointments and just find a new dentist. Am I just overreacting? I think my feelings about this go back a little further than this, overall I've been a little unhappy with them, but I guess this was just too much. Thoughts/recommendations? Do you go to a dentist you love?
Re: dentist dilemma
I'm kind of in the same boat. I feel that you are paying them, they should give you good service and make you feel good about going to them. I had a dentist I liked, but I had a lot of work done and was paying in installments. Then one day the bills stopped coming, with no warning and I got a notice that they were suing me and I had to appear in court! I was so ticked off. We paid the bill in full, all they had to do was ask. Grrr. Needless to say I'm not going back there.
Hoping someone has a good dentist to suggest with good customer service.
Wow. Sounds like the scheduler/receptionist is being a jerk about it. I would maybe call the dentist personally and explain your situation. He/she might not know about what's going on with either your situation or his/her scheduler being rude. If the dentist is also a jerk, I would shop around. I go to River Ridge Dental on 44th in Grandville and I really like them.
Wow! I would call and speak to the office manager. If that was the office manager you were speaking to I would talk directly to the dentist. If they still are jerks, then I would high tail it out of there!
On a positive note: YAY for finally getting doors!!
I'd find a new dentist. You shouldn't have to explain yourself over and over. You're paying them for a service, right? Not just avoiding paying on a service they've already provided. The hassle and headache isn't worth it IMO.

Oh, please tell them you're switching! I think a lot of companies/people get away with crappy behavior b/c nobody ever calls them on it.

I will tell them I'm switching, don't worry! I'm not going to walk away and leave them wondering why. I just don't want to call up and cancel the appointment for wednesday and make it more "dramatic" than it has to be. Does that make sense?
Yes, of course.
Good luck!
