s/o ABC stores...and HI plants?
anyone ever order plants from the ABC store website?
A few of my friends bought plants from Walmart in HI and they really take off here. But I figured they never would so I never bought any...well now I see their big beautiful hawaiian plants and I am super jealous!
I am wondering how the starters from the ABC store would do.
Your thoughts? experiences?

V - are you still in New Orleans? I do think the environment is very, very similar. I lived in there most of my life, which may be why I love Hawaii so much. What specific plants are you looking to buy? I think most will do well. Some will not tolerate the cold, so would need to be moved inside in the winter... that rules out coconut palms.
There are many places that you can order online. If ABC doesn't have what you want or the size you want, you could find it elsewhere.
Which plants are you hoping to get?

I don't know anyone in NOLA who has plumeria. I did a quick internet check and came up with this thread with lots of suggestions:

My mom has several hibiscus in giant pots. She has people help pull them inside every winter. Do you like bouganvilla? That might be good along a fence.
The flowers that I miss most in NOLA are gardenias, followed by magnolias. I wish I could grow them in Seattle.
I hope you find some plumeria that will work there. Let me know. If they work for you, I would try them at my mom's house.
