BFing Mamas....question for you!

How often were you nursing LO at 8 months?  Are they mostly on solids by that point or do you still need to nurse a lot?  I am finally going back to work FT in August and I am wondering if I'm going to have to pump all day/everyday, or if LO will just nurse in the morning and evening and I can get away with not pumping.

Thanks!

Re: BFing Mamas....question for you!

  • By 8 months I was sick of pumping.  DS got bottles of formula during the day.  I beleive he ate 2 6-8oz bottles while I was at work.

  • I was done pumping by that point too and just nursing in the morning and at night.

  • I was still pumping. She was getting maybe 3 bottles a day at daycare (?)  and then also nursing a.m. and p.m. However, she would never take big bottles so they were only like 4 ounces each. That was all I could muster up anyway. I think not long after that or right around then I started supplementing a little with formula b/c my supply was really stressing me out. That helped me immensely but I continued to pump at least 2 times a day at work until she was between 11 months and 12 months old.

  • Annalise was nursing every 3 hours around the clock at that age - so 8x a day total. She was only eating 1 meal of solids at that point.

  • DD was still nursing every 3-4 hours and 4 was the MAX! She would take bottles that were 3-4 oz at a time about every 3 hours. She was nursing about 8 times a day and taking 2 solid meals too.
