WR: Are you sick of your colors/themes?

I've been reflecting on this since I finally commited to and purchased an area rug for our dining room.

It's damask.

Which is a print I used in my wedding. I thought I'd be so over the print (especially because it was such an '09 trend), but apparently I'm not.

Re: WR: Are you sick of your colors/themes?

  • Mine was all pretty neutral -- chocolate, ivory, gold, etc so no I'm not going to get sick of mine any time soon.  I think that's one of the reasons that I decided to go with neutrals though - so that I wouldnt look back on my wedding and go "what the hell was I thinking?"
  • Colors? Nope, I love the color combo. It seems like it was fresh and new a year ago, and now I see the combo together all the time.  Still love it.

Theme? Um, who can get sick of martinis and wine? :)

We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • Nope, still love mine. In fact, considering painting a room in our house (if we buy next year) in the color scheme.

  • Colors? No. We did sage and ivory for the ceremony/reception, then deep purple for the after party. I love these colors, especially the purple.

Theme? Nofreakingway. Our "theme" was destination wedding. Best decision I ever made.

  • We went with neutrals and earth tones largely bc they are something we're often drawn to and have been for years.  Definitely not sick of our colors (ivory & deep blue).

  • We didn't really have a theme, so I can't get sick of that. The colors, I kind of wish I went with something more neutral, but for now I still like them. Ask me in like 20 years.

  • Oh god, I'm not advocating theme weddings. I meant theme as in "look" or "style".  Like damask is not a color - it's a pattern.

  • No. I love my colors (various shades of blue- mostly navy & teal). We didn't have any other theme.
  • Nope. Went with Black & White. We used damask pattern sparingly, and I still like that too.

Are you in need of an area rug? :) This is what I got!

  • I still love my colors but I'd never use them to decorate my home, at least not in any large manner. They're way too bright for anything more than accent pillows or something similar.

  • I'm still loving grey and yellow - It's bittersweet that it wasn't super popular when we got married.  Bitter because I was having such problems finding anything yellow. Sweet because now I look like a trend setter. :)

Is that 2 area rugs, or a mirror?  I really like them, and I was hesitant at first when you said damask rug.

  • steph, that pic is two side-by-side. I was not impressed with the stock picture at all... then I saw the photo reviews and fell in love. I got an 8x10. For only $116! It's the Terra Luxe Rug from walmart.com.

  • Nope - never!  Yellow has always been my favorite color and always will be.  Everytime my mom and I see someone wearing yellow, black, and white we discuss how it would have been the perfect wedding outfit.

  • Light blue and bright red was and is a unique color combination and I still like it.

Our theme was country chic, which is not something I want for my house (or wanted, for that matter), but was totally appropriate for where I got married, so I'm happy we did it.

  • I'm doing my living room in gray, black, damask, and yellow accents. Thanks, dandy and hopscotch. :)

ooh i love it! i'm hesitant about buying any rugs for a while because of the babies... there's still an accident every once in a great while.

Come to think of it that could be a great color/design inspiration for our spare bedroom. now the wheels are spinning....

  • I like the damask Mames!

I am not sick of mine at all, in fact-I wish our house looked more like our wedding did! purples, greens, organic elegance ~ I would love to add some more of those aspects to our home.
