I was at the gym last week working out with a friend when an employee came over to talk to me and my friend. He was hitting on us. Then he says something about how he hates working in the cardio room because of all the "fat people who have no business even being in a gym." There was an obese lady a few machines down and I think she may have heard him because she left not long after. I told him that he should be a little more considerate to people who are trying to better themselves.
Well, THEN he starts going on and on about how the sexiest part of a woman's body is when you can put your hand between her thighs because they don't rub together and, FYI, it's easy access. I called him a pervert and made a comment about how I'd like to workout without hearing about his sexual preferances. (Plus, HELLO, we were at the Y - it's a Christian organization and there were children nearby).
He walked away for a minute. Then he came back and was asking my friend how old she is. She's almost 29. He starts going on and on about how old that is. Then he asked me and I said I was almost 31 (this was right before my bday). He goes "Good god you two are some old f*ers. I'm going to have to get away from you before it rubs off on me!" At that point I said to my friend (when he was out of earshot) "Thank god, I was afraid his ugliness was going to rub off on me."
SO, would you complain to management? I didn't that day because, quite frankly, I was so shocked by it all. Then I thought I would quit thinking about it but I haven't. I know he said more to us that offended me but those were the big ones.
Re: Would you complain?
I'm late but I would most definitly complain! That poor woman is there trying to overcome her obesity and some a@@hole is there making her feel like crap. It already takes a lot of courage to go to a gym and workout when you are overweight.
