Terraced Garden

I have quickly run out of flat space in my yard and still have fairly tiny garden.  I know that I want a larger vegatable garden next year but that will mean terracing it into our sloping backyard.  Has anyone done this?  Any pictures or hints?

I'm hoping to get started this summer because I'm sure it will be a major project.

Re: Terraced Garden

  • I don't have any pictures but H and I put one in this past sunday.  We are still working on and off on it but hoping to finish by Sunday. We had to first remove rocks from the beds but that is the only part that took the longest.  We made 5 -  6' x 4' boxes. we used landscaping timber and rebar. We still need to drill holes in the sides to put the rebar in to stabilize them. It really wasn't that hard, the tough part was coming up with how we wanted to lay it all out. I suggest looking at pictures to get ideas. HTH.
