Etsy

I have never bought anything from etsy and I know a bunch of y'all have, so tell me your honest opinion.

There was a girl on the DW board that said that she fell in love with this etsy seller and that she is making her wedding gown. I had been thinking that I wished that I could have someone make the front and ruffly skirt with the open back of the other one. So I contacted her and she gave me a pretty d@mn good price. My mom and grandma do not like the idea at all! They are affraid that I wont like it bc I have never seen it and she is so far away....missouri.

Would you do it or just try to find something local?

Re: Etsy

  • I've bought things off etsy before and you really have to be careful that you purchase from a seller that has a long history of positive feedback if you are going to be spending a lot of money, and make sure that you are able to communicate well with the person.  I've been happy with my purchases.

  • Oh, I forgot the store is bridalblissdesigns if you guys wanna look it up. She has all positive reviews but I can't remember how many
  • I have bought and sold many things on etsy.  I love etsy.  I haven't had any bad experiences.  However I haven't bought clothes.  I am not sure I would do it because you can't have it fitted along the way.  A wedding dress is a much bigger purchase than my $10-30 purchases.

Have you thought about seeing if someone from Craiglist can make the dress?  you could meet them, interview people they have sewn for in the past etc.
