where do you get ideas/inspiration?

Which magazines/tv shows/websites?

We just had all of the dead, old trees in our yard taken down, and are starting with a clean slate.

Need some ideas of what to plant and where..... thanks!

Sure you don't want to hire a Landscape Architect or Designer? If you really want to take this on, post some pictures and let the suggestions flow. There are some great ideas on this board.

I get a lot of inspiration from Sunset Magazine - lots of great ideas for anyone living in the American West.  I also get lots of ideas from the demonstartion gardens at local nurseries and the Ag Coop Extension Agency.
  • I look at a lot of magazines, but I'm usually frustrated because they don't always list the names of the plants.  My favorite thing to do is go to public gardens/arboretums/botanical gardens to see what they have.  It also helps me to see plants in person because you can see how they will look when mature.
