Hi ladies!
DH and I are starting to look for condos in Florida, as we would like to buy in a couple of years, then eventually live in Florida full time (5 year plan).
The little city we live in now is great and we would love to find something similar in Florida. We walk everywhere, tons of shops, restaurants and events always going on, but still a small city feel.
We were thinking of Ft. Lauderdale near Las Olas (visited a few times) or Hollywood (never been, but will visit prior to buying).
Any suggestions or helpful hints?
Thank you!
Re: NY to Hollywood, FL?
I think both of those are good options. Since you're not familiar with Hollywood I definitely recommend that you check out the broadwalk/beach area. There is always a lot going on, farmers markets on the weekends, small concerts and such. It's completely different from Las Olas. It gets a nice mix of tourists and locals, and the place is packed in the winter with Canadians (no joke, you'll see more Quebec license plates than Florida). Lots of bars and restaurants, and of course it's right on the beach. In terms of condo's though, there aren't any highrises. Most of the places are smaller buildings, maybe 10-20 apartments. There are some new building a little farther south, but not as convenient if you want to be in close walking distance.
Good luck
