So I just dug up my lawn yesterday in preparation for my very first vegetable garden. While digging up all the grass, I found lots of ants. I figured I would wait until today to see if they went away after I dug stuff up.
Well, now there are little ant holes into the ground & I am scared to plant any of my veggies since I'm wondering how the ants will affect my new plants.
What do I do?

Re: Ants in my garden! help!
Ants don't eat Aphids but they do perform a valueable service in your garden. Those tunnels facilitate air and water exchange with roots.
They probably aren't fire ants if they're in Mass., but it's good to be cautious. They get imported via nursery stock.
-NB- Thanks for the correction I guess I'm passing on bad info. I knew ants and aphids were connected somehow, but I got my information confused.
True. They attack other insects that come near their flock. They will kill Ladybugs that try to eat the Aphids.
Don't plant okra - ants love it and they will eat it. Same with soybeans. Ours also eat our zucchini plants. And they're fire ants so they just suck all around.
We've tried everything to kill them - no luck.
