book recc: Confessions of an Eco-Sinner: Tracking Down the Sources of My Stuff

YesYesYes !

I really didn't expect to like this book so much but its great. I actually think the title put me off a little bit, and I expected it to be more overwhelming. I feel like a lot of books I've read lately have been a bit overwhelming, making me feel like its impossible to make good decisions and just being too wordy and long!

But this wasn't like that at all. Its divided into sections - food, clothes, trash/discards, etc and then each section has 4-6 short tales of something, a pair of pants, an old computer etc. Its really interesting and really makes you think. There aren't any easy answers. Yeah, the women who make mass market clothes in Asia have crap jobs, long hours and live crammed in tiny rooms, but they are happy to finally have a means of independence.
