A crying baby and food poisoning...

Basically summarizes all that was my birthday!!!

It was panning out to be such a great day, shopping for Jack & dinner at Legal Seafoods(which I have been dying to go to).

So after a late start due to having two flat(completely FLAT) tires on my SUV, we finally got to Buy Buy Baby to buy Jack a new infant seat as his is being sent back to Graco for a faulty handle and we also wanted to buy him a jumparoo.  We drive 45 minutes to get there and they have 1 seat, which also has a difficult to move handle grrr strike 1.  Then they don't have our jumparoo in stock so strike 2!  Off to dinner we go...Jack is fast asleep, which worked out perfectly right?  NOT!  We get to the restaurant and they seat us next to the open kitchen(read:people yelling, dishes slamming) and it startles Jack awake!  He cries uncontrollably, so we try to feed him as it is about that time...he eats, then immediately bawls his eyes out...Rob takes him out into the mall and he calms down and laughs and talks, so he proceeds back with a seemingly happy baby!  Crying ensues again so we ask for another table out in the mall(it's like a patio but in the mall)  It's much quieter there and after all Jack was pretty happy when Rob brought him out there b4.  So we order and Rob sits down and Jack starts in again.  I KNEW we shoulda left, but we really both thought it was the noise(and I still think it was, it just had him all shaken up!)  So I ate my birthday dinner all alone at the table while Rob walked the mall with Jack, who was happy as a clam!  We switched then Rob ate and we split.  It was a frigin nightmare he was in hysterics, the whole restaurant kept watching us or at least it felt that way...so strike 3!  I guess everyone has to experience one of these incedents, but man it was my birthday!  LOL!  Well we get in the car and head home and he starts crying again, he proceeds to cry the entire 45 minute ride home, nothing I did helped, NOTHING!  He was just pissed off!  Ironically he finally fell asleep 2 miles from home!  Grrr!

I had mentioned to Rob that I was feeling flush and nauseas about 45 mins after dinner, but it seemed to pass or I was just oblivious to it b/c I was so focused in on Jack.  We get him home, fed and into bed and it hit me like a ton of bricks!  My birthday dinner gave me food poisoning, really bad!!!  I was up all night vomitting and having extreme stomach pain!  Luckily it finally subsided as I think I got it all up, ewwww!  I woke up and felt good as new thank god, I really thought I was going to die LOL!  So that was strike 4 and just the icing to my 28th birthday cake!  Tah dahhhhh!  Craziness!

  • Chrissy you poor thing.  I am so sorry that you got sick :(  I would also call the restaurant.  Maybe you can re-do your birthday this weekend!
  • Oh Crissy, not a fun birthday!  Glad to hear you are feeling better.  Maybe you can try again soon.
  • Oh hun, I am so sorry about how your birthday turned out!

I have had the unfortunate experience of having screaming children in a restaurant (both Jakob and Caroline - yikes) only once, but it was also on a special occasion (The Cheescake Factory to celebrate our anniversary) and it ruined the whole experience!  They are both usually so good in restaurants and we do take them often, but this was just "one of those days".  We had just come from appointments in Boston and thought we'd make a stop on the way home and have dinner.  BAD IDEA!!  I swear, I wanted to crawl under the covers and cry when we got home after all of the looks from people around us.

I can't imagine having food poisoning afterwards on top of it all, though!!  You poor thing!

  • Oh i'm sorry your bday didn't turn out like you planned!  Its so hard when they are so little and unpredictable.  And actually even when they get older, they can still be unpredictable!  I'm glad you are feeling better today, maybe this weekend hubby can take you out and someone can look after the baby?
  • Jack is usually awesome in restaurants so we thought nothing of taking him, it was just a freak incedent I think.  It would be nice if we had someone to watch him, but we don't really don't know many people here and those that we do know well enough, have babies and other children of their own(so we hate to add to their already busy house) and our families live 600 miles away so that option isn't there for us...I think my birthday ship has sailed this year :-)  Haha but I had a nice time with the boys regardless hehe!
