HELP

I used to be on LoEstrin Fe and I loved it. I didn't have any side effects or anything except shorter periods and less aggravating periods but because I have no insurance at the moment I had to go to planned parenthood and they gave me ortho tri cyclen lo and I HATE IT! I'm emotional, a complete you know what and I have absolutely no sex drive which really sucks since I've only been married 5 months. and because I have no sex drive my body does not lubricate itself and I have allergic reactions to other lubricants and now I have some sort of vaginitis because of this dad gum pill has missd me up so much I am in physical pain around my vagina and it hurts and burns and itches like crazy and I can't make it stop!

Any advice on what can help I am dying and I feel terrible because I dread having sex and I really want to. I need help

Re: HELP

  • Go back to the clinic and get treated for your yeast infection/bacterial vaginosis or whatever it is.

PP can give you a different pill to try, but ALL pills are rough at first and the docs usually recommend that you stay on it for 3-6 months.

Why didn't PP give you Loestrin Fe?

  • they told me they don't prescribe high dosage hormone birth controls which sucks because thats the whole reason my ob/gyn put me on it in the first place. They said they don't even carry anything remotely similar to it. I've been on it since january and thats when I started having my problems. I was on the Loestrin for almost a year and not once had a problem

  • Then it sounds like you need to suck it up and pay the full price for the stuff that works best for you.

Yes, it sucks that you don't have insurance to help, but I don't think I'd deal with the stuff PP gave you.  Either that or switch to condoms.

  • Isn't the first step obvious?  Stop taking the new pills and give your body a break!

  • I would definitely stop taking the pills if they're causing that much of an issue. Also you may want to talk to a doctor about how your body is reacting to this BC. A friend of mine had an issue like this. They discovered after 6 years or so that the pill (any pill, she tried several) was preventing her body from absorbing estrogen in the places it needed. She had all the same symptoms. I remember her telling me it was like someone was repeatedly shoving razorblades up there.

First off go to the doc. who prescribed this medicine see if you can get off it. while your there get on medicine for your yeast infection.I was 14 when i started taking it and was not aware of what was going on wasn't normal. till I finally had enough just to ask my mother that was a few months before my 17th birthday so i completely understand the pain. but i would try another pill before you go fork out the money unless you can afford it on your income. I'm sure they will have something that works for you!! ask them about seasonique www.seasonique.com. read through this web site and see if this is anything you would like.I loved it. But it did cause me to brake out so i had to also get proactive till i decided that I no longer was going to use BC. hope it helps! and good luck.

  • I would look around in your area for a different womens health clinic. I used to go to planned parenthood (while on the patch) and when I moved to a smaller town I had to go somewhere else. It's a small clinic called Care for Her and they prescribe me Loestrin. So I would check around, there might be somewhere else besides PP for you to go!
  • BC gave me very negative reactions including a low sex drive and decreasing my estrogen levels too  much which gave me a skin disease down there that caused it to be very dry and itchy, decreased my sex drive, would give me night sweats and headaches multiple times a week. my doctor took me off and told me not to be on any form of birth control.  My advice, use condoms.
  • I was on ortho tri lo once and hated it. I'm taking the Loestrin 24 fe now. Go see your doctor, they can give you a card where you can get the prescription for the loestrin for no more than  $24 a month for up to a year. its not free, but it's a lot better than paying full price for your bc
  • Saturday was my last day of the ortho. My mom was able to get me the Loestrin from her doctor so I am going to start it again this saturday and hopefully everything will go back to normal. thank you everyone. I now know to never take that bc ever again
