We went to a great restaurant in Hollywood over the weekend while visiting my sister. It's called Home and is on sunset. We were sitting out on their great patio waiting for our food to come out, then I noticed the guy on the table next to me pulls out a cigarette and asks the bus boy if he could smoke. I guess the bus boy nodded yes and then this guy and 2 other people on the table lit up. Now the restaurant was totally packed, and my boys were sitting directly next to these people, and there was another baby another table across from us. I quickly grabbed our stuff and moved inside. I was totally surprised to see people smoke, my sister said you are allowed to smoke outside, but I couldn't believe people would be so inconsiderate to other diners! My sister acted like it was no big deal and she sees it all the time. Even if the boys were not with me I would have been pissed off. I can't stand the smell of smoke, and it would have totally put me off my food. My dad is a smoker, and he would never do something like that. He even said he can't stand the smell of people smoking while he eats!
It was a shame, because the food was really great, but I would not go back. Does this bug anyone else? I think my sister thought I was overreacting, but it really pissed me off !
Re: Smoking in restaurant vent
I suppose if smoking allowed on the patio, they are free to smoke. I would just move. I'm glad more places are banning smoking though b/c I can't stand it either.
Ever hang out in Koreatown? People smoke indoors even when there are big signs that say "no smoking".
When I went to Thailand, there were Europeans chain smoking next to us, we would've moved except the restaurant was packed. We just gave them dirty looks the whole time hoping they'd get a hint. I could understand a smoke before or after dinner, but chain smoking the whole time you're at dinner, come on!
