Intro to the Farmer's Market

For those of us who don't shop at the Farmer's Market, here's a great video shot at my Farmer's Market from a non-regular shopper's perspective.  Please ignore the stuff at the beginning about Farmer's Markets supporting "Catholic values," the rest of the video isn't about that. I think this video hits the key benefits of shopping at the Farmer's Market:

1. Supports your community
2. Tastes better
3. Is better for you
4. Buying food from someone you know
5. Produce ripens in the earth or on the vine, not at the store.
6. Produce is picked in season, and sent only a short distance to the local market, often harvested only hours before being sold.

"All this leads to a taste and freshness that the logistics of corporate supermarket chains simply don't allow for, and the money goes straight into the farmer's pocket. Encoraging him to keep producing this superior source of food, and the money stays in the local economy."

It's so awesome to see vendors and people I know up on the internet, I'm just a dork like that.  I recognize the vendors from their setups, the asparagus the little girl is excited about at the end is the same asparagus I bought last weekend.
