I've been watching flights back to Nebraska for an October wedding and Christmas. The cheapest for the wedding is $290 round trip - I used to be able to get flights for $215 or so but the price has been on an upward trend. For x-mas it is even worse, but I think we both have enough ff miles to cover that one at least. It just sucks to have to pay about $600 just to see our family - or more if we can't fit everything into carry on!!

I hear ya!
I haven't been to visit my family in MA for a few years. I'm hoping to be able to fly back there with Ted sometime next year, & I'm already scared about what the prices are going to be like. Plus with the added bag fees... ugh. It's just crazy.
Nope...you're not alone! I kept watching flights to MX in Oct and the one I had my eye on went from being less than 1/2 way full to sold out within 2 days!
Luckily there was 1 flight that had almost as good times (an extra stop) and wasn't too much more expensive. I bought our tix in case that one sells out or the prices go up. Otherwise all of the other flights are at least $600/ pp *and* a 20+ hour travel time!
I just can't imagine flight prices going down with this damn oil spill that "they" cannot get under control.

I know that $290 isn't horrible in comparison to some flights (for instance my flight to Sacramento in July for work I expected to be at least 350), but it definitely is up for the particular flight that we take - Baltimore to Omaha. And I'm always monitoring BWI - OMA flights, so I know they have been trending up.
