Must be the money

"If you wanna go and take a ride wit me
We three-wheelin in the fo' with the gold D's
Oh why do I live this way? (Hey, must be the money!)"

Still love this song (Nelly, Ride w/ Me) - Just came accross my pandora.

In your opinion, what's an oldie but a goodie?

Re: Must be the money

  • Anything Beach Boys and anything old of Mariah Carey and Michael Jackson.

If I want a rap oldie/goodie Juvenile Slow Motion.

  • Oldies but goodies are songs from the 50s and 60s! Surfing Bird, Last Kiss, Little GTO, Blue Moon, and hundreds more.  I love oldies!

Nothing rap falls into the oldies but goodies category for me, but I do love me some old school rap (that's the closest categorization you'll get from me). Stuff like Rapper's Delight (the original).

We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

Not like Oldies, Oldies - I'm referring to like 1998-2003?  What would these be called? Ha!

Hmmm, no clue. I'm not even sure I would classify that era as old school.  It's just not old enough to have its own category.

  • I'm clearly tired and out of it. I do think classing those songs by any term is premature ;) BUT if my mind has clued me in a bit, this could have been my original answer: Anything DMX. :)  I will now return me to my regularly scheduled trip to obtain caffeine.

    I think I love you.

  • I'll play along Philly! My favorite song from this era/genre/whateveryouwanttocallit is hands down "This Is How We Do It". I can always get down with a little Montell Jordan!
  • Philly, I just heard that song the other too and jammed out to it! That was the joint! (LOL). I love Nelly and the St. Lunatics too, I used to ride to their CD circa 2001.

Chrissy, you will be delighted to know that This is How We Do It is my ring tone. You're welcome. That is definitely an all-time party classic.

Hmmm, there are so many freaking great songs like that. Another classic for me is Scarred by Uncle Luke and Come on Ride that Train. LMAO.

Also Headsprung by LL Cool J gets me in the mood to dance every time.

  • I'm a Wyclef girl, so every time I see this thread, I think "no, it 'ain't all about the money.'"  Carnival has to be one of my favorite CDs of all time.

  • They keep coming!

Beautiful by Snoop and Pharrell and of course, In Da Club by 50 is a classic!

  • This could be subtitled "My roadtrip soundtrack."  When I make the 7 hr. drive home, 90's music is busted out.  We usually include Blackstreet "No Diggity," "Regulators" is still my husband's ringtone on his phone, and if I'm alone and want to sing it is Jewel "Pieces of Me."
