Anyone use an FM adapter (or any other suggestions) to connect an iPod to the car audio?
Recommendations and suggestions most welcome!
Re: Anyone use an FM adapter (or any other suggestions) to connect an iPod to the car audio?
We had an FM adapter and we were never able to get a clear enough signal to use it.
However, when we put the CD player in our car, DH chose one with the option for an auxiliary input, and then he did some magic with a cable from Radio Shack and now we have input capabilities!
Oh, the other solution we had was to use a little portable player, and either stock up on batteries or plug it into a power inverter. The sound quality wasn't nearly as good, but it got the job done.
DH and I both have fm transmitters. His works great, mine... it works most of the time, but it's not as good. Mine actually has an external antennae, so I thought it would work better. DH's just plugs into the bottom. His is a Belkin model (old since his ipod nano is 1st gen).
We have no trouble using either one when we're just driving around town. But, when you're on a long trip you'll need to reset the channel on the transmitter and the radio every hour or two.
If you have a tape deck, that is definitely the way to go. I used to use a tape converter in my old car, but unfortunately my new car only has a CD player.
