Seriously....I am not an idiot I swear. I can read, follow directions, even cook. For the life of me I can NOT make yogurt that is not runny as s*it!! I am actually really frustrated and upset b/c it tastes good, it's just like smoothie consistency. I even added powdered milk this time to see if that would work.
The light in my oven is broken so maybe you have recommendations on my heat source. I use a 5 gallon cooler and pour hot water in and leave it overnight. Maybe my water was too hot and it killed the cultures??? I think I just may suck it up and buy a yogurt maker.
sigh....

Re: I give up yogurt!
This is what I do. DH likes how his homemade yogurt comes out runny, I am not a fan. I turn it into Greek yogurt using this method and cheesecloth, it works great.
I would think runny as sh!t would be not so runny...unless you were ill I suppose
Are you making the determination that it's runny before you refrigerate it or after because mine always thickens in the fridge. Also, when you cool it down, do you do it in the fridge/freezer or in cool water in the sink? I find that when I let it cool in water or just out on the counter (ie more slowly) my yogurt ends up thicker.
Try one more time.
Read and follow this method. She includes things like target temps...

I had been an abysmal failure at it, too, till I used this and checked my temps along the way!
I am the 99%.
