Some of you know that Ted has been having some issues with one of his coworkers. He does IT for a construction company, and his whole department is 3 people - his direct boss, coworker, & Ted. Well lately this coworker had been calling in sick, & just emailing their direct boss to tell her he had doctors appointments & wouldn't be in the next day. No warning or anything - which in a dept that small, notice is important. Plus, he was having doctors appt's every week - seriously, every week for the past 8 weeks or so. I mean... he must have been dying to be seeing a doctor that often.
Anywho - last week this coworker gave his "1 week notice". Generous, I know. Considering he is the only one who does his specific job, it sure was nice of him to give one week. Well, I guess they know what he was doing with all those days off for "doctors appointments".
So now Ted is the only IT guys there. Right now it's looking like a stressful/scary position to be in, but also exciting because he's The IT Guy now for the company, and it involves a raise since he's doing the work of 2 people. He just has to learn a lot before the coworker leaves.
Here's the even more ridiculous part - this coworker really doesn't like Ted, so he won't show Ted anything he needs to know to take over. The company Ted works for is being forced to bring in an outside consultant (which they've worked with before) to get the info, so this consultant can teach it to Ted. Sooooo high school. The coworker also told their direct boss that they have to hire someone else because there's no way Ted can do this job, to which she replied "Well apparently you never actually tried to work with him, then."
Everyone at the company is really relieved that this guy is leaving, he was really rude to everyone there. Always saying he wouldn't fix things because it wasn't his fault.
So, that's what's been going on here for the past week. So fingers crossed that Ted can handle everything. This would huge for his career because he would eventually be the IT Manager, which is good to have on resumes for a title. Plus - a raise! That would be huuuuuge for us right now. HUGE.
I know this was long, I just wanted to let you all know what's been going on with us. A giant chocolate cupcake (guilt free!) for reading all of that! ![]()

Thank you so much ladies!
I know Ted will be awesome, he just needs the proper guidance to catch up with the job his coworker was doing. It sounds like this outside consultant is exactly the person he needs to accomplish that, so that's really great.
It was just a little nerve wracking (mainly for Ted) because it's a lot of responsibility & it's all on him. The good thing is that his direct boss isn't worried, she knows Ted can do it. The Big Boss is only worried that it's going to be too much for one person to handle, but he's giving Ted time to see if he can do it all.
I'm glad Ted has the oportunity and that he won't have to deal with the a$$#ole coworker anymore. I'm sure he will rock the job and get that raise.
Good Luck to him!
How exciting! It sounds stressful, but I bet Ted does an AWESOME job! I'm glad that penis wrinkle has decided to leave...he wasn't good for the company and it sucks working with someone who blows goats.
Thanks for the cupcake! I'm on a diet
I agree!
I'm sure he is going to do great! Congratulations to the two of you!
Thank you so much for all the kind words, ladies
This really is a great opportunity & blessing for Ted & our little family.
