Has anyone installed pergo flooring. We are considering this for our new home. We think it would be a fun diy project. Any suggestions for a retailer, brand, or how to choose a good quality product. Thanks so much x's & o's
Re: Home renovation advice
We had laminate in part of our old house and it is really great stuff--affordable and way better than carpet imo. In this house we put down bamboo and I lurve it! We didn't diy this one though.
We bought our laminate at Costco, love their prices, not a huge selection though. Our bamboo is from lumber liquidators. I think if you can spring for the real deal, go for it--it looks and sounds soooooo goood!
We got laminate installed by Empire a little over a year ago and LOVE it. They did an amazing job with the installation, and after a year, we've had zero problems with. They have really nice quality products, but you pay a little more for it (and for the convenience of having them install it, of course). We just had Empire come back out and redo the carpeting in our bedrooms because we were so happy with the job they did on the laminate.
I commend you for wanting to install it yourself, though. DH and I aren't particularly handy, so we didn't think we'd be able to handle it. But I know lots of people do it and it turns out great.
We got our laminate two years ago from Costco. It comes with padding attached and you just buy the water barrier. We love it. Had a plumbing issue recently in the kitchen and it didn't bubble up at all. Def great for us until we can do hardwoods someday (I hattttteeee capet!)
Paid a guy on Craigslist to install. 1200 for removal of carpet and tile, install, and new baseboards.
