So, I think I've mentioned this before, but I have a ton of adopted cousins, none of whom I know particularly well as they live out in B.C. or Alberta. In fact, the vast majority of my cousins are adopted as the women on my Dad's side (he's the eldest of six) can't seem to have their own kids.
Anyway, I just got the chance to hang out with one of my cousins (who actually is related to me by blood and is the only one of my female cousins to do so), and I have to say, it was really cool to have family that looked like me. It sounds so lame... but I was so excited to meet someone else who has the same hair type/skin colour. With my adopted cousins, we're alike where it counts - in personality, but it was sooo neat to have someone who's alike both in personality and appearance. I know, it's something silly to get excited about, but I really, really was.
Re: I just had a really cool experience /w a family member
That's not silly, that's awesome!
Actually everyone on my (step) Dad's side (my step Dad raised me my whole life so I consider him my "real" dad if you will...long story) is not related to me by blood so at times I feel left out in that sense because I look like no one. So whenever I hang out with my mom's side it's nice since they are my blood if you will.

Funny, I have lots of cousins... and, none of us look alike... not even similar. The person who feels like family is my best friend. We are the same height, same curly hair, same sense of humor.
