2014 Superbowl: Choice was New Meadowlands!

The vote just came in. FYI.

Re: 2014 Superbowl: Choice was New Meadowlands!

  • The first thought I had in my head: it's gonna be cold as hell.

Second thought: I'd pay to sit in that stadium in the cold to watch that game. How awesome.

  • I'm so not excited about this. I'm from New Jersey, and I HATE how it always gets called New York (yes, I know the Jets & Giants are "NY" but that's a rant for another time). One of my biggest pet peeves is how the announcers will say "we're here in New York..." No, you're not. Do you not even know what state you're in?

Besides, it's cold there in the winter.

Sorry, vent over. Sad Way for me to jump into this board with a pissy post like this! I'm going to post an intro message now and hopefully you all don't hate me already.

  • Actually, most announcers avoid mentioning the state - often you hear just Meadowlands, Jets or Giants. And the graphic at the bottom of the screen always says East Rutherford, NJ. Didn't the Jets drop the New Jersey from their name ? Or was it NY they dropped -- I don't remember now.

I like the location for the Super Bowl. I would rather have the game at an interesting city (ie, NYC) rather than a warm, but boring city (e.g., Jacksonville, Houston).  Boring/uncomfortable based on fan/tourist perspective and not based on good place to live.

I like that weather will be a factor in the game. Some of the most memorable games were played in some serious, foul weather.

A particular NE Patriots game comes to mind...
