some of you girls seem to be pretty familiar with the "nicer" hotels out here. don's birthday is next month and my mom offered to watch dominic for the night so i could book a hotel room somewhere here. i was wanting to find something with maybe like a couples massage or something, but it needs to be pretty cheap. oh, and i want it to have a lazy river! what sites do you guys use, or do you just go to the actual website for the hotel?
Re: local hotel deals
I usually just use hotels.com or travelocity.com
I'll always check the actual hotel site before I book though - sometimes the actual sites have matched rates.
yeah i always use expedia or whatever site, didn't know if some of you had another super secret one i didn't know about
i found a room at the westin kierland for like 170 something with tax. not horrible i guess.
I guess I am not good enough to take Dominic overnight huh? I see how it is
I found a really really great hotel in Tucson that has an amazing lazy river and is only $99, but I guess that is not local haha! I was thinking about staying there this weekend, but it's a bit far from where we are supposed to be.
well we'd still need a dog sitter and just for the one night it's just easier for my mom to stay here. wasn't really planning on going anywhere out of this area but maybe i will look into tucson or something
I know I'm a little late to post, but I wanted to recommend the summer splash deals. Every summer the AZ Republic includes an extra section in the Sunday paper, and it lists various hotels in the valley with reduced summer rates. So if you have the paper from two Sundays ago, check it out.
A few of our favorites are the AZ Grand, Hilton Tapitio Cliffs, and Hilton Squaw Peak. All three have HUGE water parks within the resort, I'm talking like multiple water slides, wave pools, lazy rivers, etc. There is even a shuttle that'll take you between the two Hiltons so you can experience both parks. We've gone every summer for years!

yeah that won't work for a few reasons- don works m-f and isn't allowed much time off for his first year and he already had to call in sick once (since march) and also my mom will be watching dominic and she has work during the week too. i wish we could do it on a weekday but unfortunately it's not an option. i was thinking of just doing the westin kierland. they have a nice pool and a lazy river but it seems more "grown up" so hopefully there won't be as many kids there.
my cousin's a manager at Ra and will get us free dinner so what's nice about the westin and the grand is that there's a Ra near them, haha.
