It's Wednesday

We all know what that  means, and since we missed last week (how the heck did we do that), let hear all the ppc/ttc updates, news, etc.

Re: It's Wednesday

  • I'll go first. Our project TTC date is still undetermined, so it's a ways off. Yet, I still can't help walking down the baby aisle in Target. Stopping off at the baby good store on Alberta St. It's like an addiction.

So, in hopes to curb the addiction, Julie and I have created a second savings account. This account only gets $25 a paycheck put into it automatically, and is with a bank differant than our 'daily' bank, so we don 't even miss it.

This account is currently saving for anything child related. It's a primamirly nice savings for when we start to foster parent, and if it doesn't get used for that, then heck it's nice to know we just have some 'other' money put back.

But this is only the second week so it's holding strong at $50. Wink

Oh and Sarah Palin makes me feel ill, but thats for another post.

  • Well, it's isn't TTC - but our kids are really giving us a run for our money these days.

Last night Carter was hysterical that he didn't want to take a bath (he NEEDED one after playing at the playground and in the woods) - I basically bathed while hugging him. We both got a bath.  Then he only wanted "Elmo diapers" (Pampers) and not his "Mickey Mousie diapers" (Huggies Overnights that he HAS to wear to bed. Otherwise he leaks.) Pitched a fit over that - full on kicking/screaming/diaper ripping.  Then he wanted striped pjs, then fire truck pjs (they are in the laundry), then no pjs, then he wanted his brother to wear matching pjs (which he didn't want to wear.) After 30 minutes of tears, kicking, thrashing, screaming, and acting like Linda Blair, he opted for red "firemans pants" and blue and brown striped shirt (like his friend Rhyder.) It was a look.  Nearly one hour to bathe and dress the kid (typically a 15 minute deal.) Oy Vey. Good thing his brother was cooperative. :)

Thankfully once he got downstairs, had some milk, ate some dinner, and cuddled up on the couch with his blankie, Monkey, and me all was right with the world.

    Toddlers. Sheesh.

  • Good idea with the savings account! I wish we had one of those right about now. We were in good shape when we started but extended ttc with a side of IVF basically decimated our savings. We're starting to look at all the baby stuff we need to get and frantically pinching pennies to make sure we'll be back in a comfort zone by the time the little one arrives. It's no fun!

My AW for this check in is that we have reached the second trimester! Hopefully this means I'm going to start feeling better. I'm having more good hours in the day than I used to, but quite a bit of fatigue and nausea as well. Oh well, it's all for a good cause. Smile

Hope everyone else is having a great week!

  • Well, we have packed all of our house and in a fews we will be in a new home (gosh, I cannot wait). I was diagonised with level 4 MVP which is a heart murmur. The doctor told me to hold off ttc for a few months until we have got my blood pressure down and correct a heart valve leakage. I have a fertility appt on Sept 11 and I am deciding if I should still go. I meet with another cardiologist on Friday and overall he will tell me what I should do. Other than that I am working and starting a new budget plan that I am still working on. I hope everything is going well for everyone!
  • Ohh Kendyl, I love seeing that ticker in your siggy!!  Smile

Nothing really new to report here except that I'm now all baby-ready (taking my vits, off all non-baby safe meds, etc etc) and its basically just a waiting game for me. Trav is definitely getting excited about it too, we talked some over vacation about how the next time we come up to the Cape we will hopefully have a baby with us! (*fingers crossed*) I'm 99% sure that he's just waiting on the guest room to be done, which definitely encourages me to want to work on it more. Otherwise a quiet week for PCP/TTC-related stuff.

  • Kendyl --- so happy to hear your update!  Hopefully the yucky first trimester stuff will be done soon.

W is growing and has really begun to get big over the past few weeks.  It is really awesome to watch her belly grow.  It is so beautful!  We had our 20 week ultrasound a couple of weeks ago.  It was really cool.  We found out we are having a girl.  The tech was a bit worried about something she saw that she thought might be a marker for downs.  We then went to a specialist, who felt our risk is quite low.  I can't believe how quickly the time is going.  We have not yet picked out any stuff -- I guess I need to get on that!

  • After the disaster of the chemical pregnancy last month, I am once again in the two week wait. I will find out next Wednesday if this one took or not. At the moment not feeling too hopeful, but you never know. We also picked out a new donor yesterday if this cycle doesn't work since ours has since retired and we used our last two specimens from him this month. Hopefully next week I will have more news.

  • This week we completed our pre-purchase account requirements at the bank, so technically we could buy our sperm any time now. We also reached a quarter of our total goal in our "TTC savings account." It looks like we're on track to buy our vials by January (Happy New Year!) although we still won't start ttc until next fall. Just 12 months left! It seems like a long time still, but I know it's going to go by quickly, especially once my grad program starts (later this month) and we get closer to being able to move. Right now most of my focus is on financial planning and getting ready to obsess about real estate.

  • well, this isn't directly ttc related, but we're making a lot of progress on our bathroom. we have the plumbing inspector coming tomorrow to check the rough in on the master bath and do the final inspection (finally) on the guest bath. the more we get done now, the less we'll have to worry about once we start ttc, which is good.

we're still on track to start at the end of the month. i think i may have said this before, but c's birthday is tomorrow, she's out of town all next week for work, and she's due to be ovulating at some point during that time. so we've opted to wait until the next cycle to give ourselves more time to make a final decision on our donor and not have to stress out trying to time everything right for this cycle. i'm excited and terrified and happy and nervous and about a million other things right now.

  • I love all the updates.  Somehow hearing how everyone else is moving along makes me hopefull.

With my current work situation our December TTC will be put on hold.  In all honesty we're probably back to our original plan of next May/June but both K and I are open to starting sooner.  She still wants me to go ahead and get the full profiles for our top donor choices (Sam, expect an email soon).

All of the new jobs I am applying for are higher paying and I make certain that the insurance covers at least some TTC.  So I'm still holding out hope it will be sooner than later but we won't rush.
