Recommend a Louisville church?

Hi girls, I'm kind of new to Louisville and I've been church "shopping" since I got here and am having problems finding the right one for my family.  I'd like a church that is mid-sized to large, Christian denomination (not too picky on this as I was raised Presbyterian/Methodist and DH was raised Catholic), and more on the liberal side.  We do not have a conventional extended family and I'd like to raise my daughter and baby-to-be in an environment that fosters open-mindedness and discussion as opposed to hellfire and brimstone.  I've so far tried Southeast, Northeast, Beargrass Christian, United Methodist in St. Matthews...  If any of you have any suggestions I'd appreciate it!  TIA!

Re: Recommend a Louisville church?

  • We go to St. Stephen in Jeffersonville, IN. Their main campus is in Louisville & is pretty big, 3 services on Sunday. That congregation isn't very, shall we say, diverse (it's an African-American church). The IN location is smaller & more mixed. We love Pastor Cosby. Few preachers have his common sense teaching style. If you are familiar with Joyce Meyer & like her teaching style, come & check out Pastor Cosby. Good luck! God will lead you.
  • I forgot to say that it's on Veteran's Pkwy. Take 65 across the bridge, take the Veteran's Pkwy exit, & turn right. It's on the left just past Scotts Funeral Home.
  • Southest Christian on Blankenbaker Parkway is pretty big.

  • We moved to Louisville in January and did the same thing. SE was way too big for us We fell in love w/ Springdale Community Church. It is over towards Tinsletown. Check it out! Let me know what you think!
