Phoenix Zoo

We've never been, and we going tomorrow @ 9 with a friend and her 4 kids.

What are the MUST SEE's? Good place to eat (with kids)? Any other pointers?

Also, if you wanna come and meet up, that'd be cool! :) The more the merrier

Re: Phoenix Zoo

  • I love love love going to the zoo, but to be completely honest, The Phx Zoo is my least favorite one I have ever been to : ( DH and I are members because we just love seeing the animals, but every time we go, there is nothing to see! The animals are either sleeping, or hiding! IMO it is due to poor exhibits. I'd say my favorite areas at The Phx Zoo are the Orangutan Giraffe and Elephant exhibits. Hopefully you will see more than we do, because we are normally disappointed.

  • Jillian, why is your siggy *Jillia*?  Did you forget the n or is this a new NN?  I need to know these things ok? Stick out tongue

PS - I am seriously contemplating biscuits and gravy for dinner, and that is not ideal considering I will be in a bikini this weekend.  Grrrr....

  • Giraffes, elephants, monkeys, got it!

I figured it would be a good zoo since it's in the Top 5 for kids. I know Ry won't be that interested, but I just want to take him out more.

Tay: I guess I made a booboo when I changed my link. :) Oops.

  • it's a hike for you, but wildlife world zoo is 100x better than the phoenix zoo. in my opinion anyway

didn't they move? i am almost positive they were out on the way to the salt river, by fort mcdowell casino? because i have pictures of me feeding a tiger at that zoo. i'm pretty sure they moved within the last 10 years or so up north on the 17. or maybe that's another zoo by the casino, not sure! that was probably really confusing

  • I do agree with Liz, The PHX Zoo is my least favorite zoo.

During the sumemr its sooohot the animals barely move.

The one exhibt I do love and cansit for HOURS and watch is the little prarier dogs/Meercat dudes. Those guys are funny

  • There were a lot of animals asleep, but we went at 9, so it wasn't quite breakfast time yet. :) We still saw a lot of animals. once it got to be 12:30, it was too hot, we were too hungry and tired to do the one loop with the elephants and kids stuff. :( But tons of pics will be posted to FB soon. :) Thanks girls for the recs.
