Just wondering what everyone is doing for the long holiday weekend. We will be spending this long weekend packing up the apt, getting ready for the move in about a month.
Of course, it's a time to remember our fallen heroes (and to me, those who are serving presently as well) who have served us by protecting our freedoms and nation. I really don't take that for granted as I have family members and many friends who are presently serving and have served.
I remember the first time that I told a soldier that I did not know "Thank you for serving our country" when it was just he and I in an elevator and he was in uniform. He looked like he wanted to cry.
Thank you military personnel!
Re: Memorial Day plans?
Hopefully you are able to take a break from packing for a little bit to enjoy your Memorial Day weekend.
MH and I are going to visit the American military cemetaries in France tomorrow (Monday). We've always wanted to go and figured there was no better time than Memorial Day itself.
We've gone to two BBQs so far this weekend and have another one tomorrow as well. Busy weekend but WOO HOO to the start of summer. Now if only it would get warm and sunny over here.
We don't have Memorial Day up here in Canadaland. We did have a long weekend last weekend (the Victoria Day weekend). My husband, cousin and I went up to my family's cottage in Quebec. I got to do this all weekend:
It was AWESOME, but my arms are still killing me.

we went and had lunch in kailua, chilled in waimanalo at the beach and then cruised over to sand island where we found tons of sea glass and watched the sunset
work tomorrow...boo...
My sister came home from college on the other side of the state and brought me the first Rainier cherries of the year!! YUM. My parents had a bbq yesterday then we had to go pick up MIL from the airport. She is back out here for 1.5 weeks before DH's cousin flies in to take over childcare duties for the rest of the summer.
other than that we spent the weekend building ikea furniture. fun fun. Big makeover underway in the basement. (there is no exterior door and the hallway narrows to 29" so ikea is pretty much our only affordable option for furniture down there - we can't afford custom).
we live near a large cemetery and it made me happy to see all the flags and flowers that were added over the weekend.
