Hey girl! Didn't you say in your blog post that you guys planted bamboo in your yard? Have you had bamboo before? We have a space between our back deck and the fence similar to your picture (maybe a little wider) and I've been trying to think of something to put there. We used to have banana trees there but got rid of those after Katrina. ANYway, our neighbor lady is a good gardener and has a great yard/garden/etc and I mentioned that to her today and she about died - I thought her eyes were gonna pop out her head. lol She said it's uber aggresive (I knew this, but she made it seem much worse than I thought) and that the roots will tear up fences, decks, etc. Did you guys talk to a nursery or landscaper about it before planting? I haven't yet (I'm sure you can tell haha) but wanted to see what you knew about it since you already have it.
