How to download DVDs to your iPod?

We're going on vacation soon with a lengthy car ride ahead of us. Is there a way to be able to download some of the DVDs I have (movies, TV shows) onto my iPod?

There is a way. First you have to rip the DVDs to your computer. The previous post on this board is about that - I also recommend the Hand Brake program. Really easy to use and works well.

Then once you have the files on your computer, go into iTunes. Go to the File menu, and choose "Add to library." Pick the file you want and import it, then change any of the information (title, etc) on it if you need to. Then you can just add it to your ipod like you would have with a song.
