Where can I recycle my old computer?

I live in downtown Chicago (and I don't have a car) - I was wondering if anyone knew who accepts old computers so they can be recycled? I googled it but no feasible options came up.

TIA!

The only place I know of is the Household Hazardous Waste and Computer Disposal Facility at 1150 N. Branch St. on Goose Island. I don't know how easy that is to get to from where you are, but I hope it helps. They have very specific hours, listed here: http://www.swancc.org/hcw/hcwcollection.html

  • If you can, take it to Best Buy.  We brought 7 of our old computers and tvs there a couple months ago and we had to pay $10 for each one to be recycled, but they we received $70 in Best Buy gift cards so it works out nicely.
