Menu help for "upscale cookout"
A friend asked me for suggestions for a party she is planning. It's for her DS's first birthday so she wants the food to be kid friendly, typical cookout type stuff, but with a twist that makes it different and a bit more sophisticated for adults.
The main dishes are gourmet beef sliders (with buns specially made by a local bakery and artisan cheese), bite size pig in blankets (with a pastry crust rather than the usual breading). One of the guests doesn't eat beef....so I'll be having a Gardenburger. = )
Any suggestions for side dishes?

Summer Squash Salad
This is a different twist on pasta salad
Orzo with Zucchini & Red Peppers
Also, one of my favorite potato salads: Roasted Potato Salad with Corn, Bell Peppers and Tomatoes . If you check out the Fine Cooking site, I think you'll find a lot of upscale alternatives to the usual picnic food.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
This is different sort of potato salad, but it's really really good and refreshing. Plus it's non mayo based.
