Help needed from DC Nestie

Anyone have secret tips for an inexpensive hotel for June 18-20? My son has tickets to the Sox game, now needs a safe and cheap (HA!) hotel in the city. They are trying to pay under $150 (again with the HA!). As long as its in the city, on the T, I think they're okay (they are flying in and don't have a car).

He's been checking all the usual suspect sites (Expedia, Priceline, etc.) and I suggested looking into B&Bs, too, since they don't need a fancy corporate hotel with a gym and restaurant onsite.

Any local tips I can pass along to him? I'll repay the favor if any of you ever come to DC! :) thanks in advance!

Re: Help needed from DC Nestie

  • I don't have any special tips but Dh and I stayed at the Sheraton Back Bay on our honeymoon (we didn't live here at the time, haha), it's within walking distance to Fenway, and I don't remember exactly how much we paid but it was under $200 a night. We also booked pretty far in advance so I'm sure that had something to do with it. Also, I've heard that sometimes calling a hotel directly will get you better deals.. that's just hearsay though.. good luck to your son and I hope he enjoys his trip!
  • I've never heard of any B&Bs in the city, I think they will have to look for a regular hotel. I will also recommend the Sheraton Back Bay though, we have stayed there after a Sox game for DH's birthday and it was easy walking and a great hotel. Also, if he hasn't checked out kayak.com yet, have him look there. It's a deal website that scans all of the other deal websites at once.
