baby shower favors

Hi I was wondering if you ladies might have some advise for me, I am hosting a very large co-ed baby shower (aprox. 100 people). It is casual (bbq) and loosely bee themed (the invites had bees, banner says "baby bee aiden marie") I am at a loss of what to do about favors or if I even need them. I was originally going to do specialty honey and "bee" brand playing cards, but then I found out how big the mom's family really is and due to financial reasons my original ideas went out the window :(

any ideas ?

Re: baby shower favors

  • Skip the favors. No one will miss them.

Agreed, skip them.  Sure it's a nice touch but no one is ever upset they didn't get a favor.  Instead you can buy just a few of the specialty honey, etc for prizes.  Even if you don't do games, you can always have a drawing or a timer go off during the party for wining.

  • thank you so much for the input! and good idea about the honey for prizes!
  • I agree that favors are completely unnecessary.  HOWEVER, if you feel the need to do them make it edible- bee shaped cookies, or honey flavored candies.  I love the idea of doing the honey for drawing prizes.

(Holy crap at 100 people for a baby shower)

    I agree.

My friend recently had a 100 ppl co-ed shower and the favors were tiny jars of green M&Ms.  If they weren't there, no one would've missed them.  But it gave the "shower" feel to the very hip party.

  • thank you guys for all the advise!
  • Bit o' Honey candy would be cute if you feel the need to do a favor!
  • marshmallow or cake pops are super easy to make and you can decorate them to fit your theme
  • I wouldn't think they would be needed, but if you still wanted to do something small you could do a cookie, make chocolate lolipops shaped like bees, maybe just a basket of suckers with ribbons or something.  I think you could make it especially simple!
  • What about using the M&Ms favor idea and using yellow and black M&Ms to match the bee theme?  You can get the tiny holders for them at stores such as Michael's and use a 40% coupon.
