Restaurant Recs needed

Hi ladies!  I was hoping you could offer some suggestions.  My husband and I are looking for a nice restaurant to go to for our first annivesary next weekend.  We are open to downtown, broadripple, or the northside.  Any go to places that you love?  Thanks!

  • Happy Anniversary!

Here are some of my favorites:

Mama Carolla's is in Broadripple and is a super cute family owned italian. Romantic, reasonable, but I would check and see if you can make a reservation.  http://www.mamacarollas.com/

Rick's Boatyard Cafe is on the Eagle Creek reservoir on the westside and has a great seafood/broad menu. If it is nice, sit outside it is lovely!!

    Northside:

The Capri--I have not been there in the last few years, but my mom went recently and said it was really nice.  http://www.capriindy.com/

Sangiovese--moved recently and I have heard their new location is better than the first, and I really liked it before! http://www.sangioveseristorante.com/home.html

Should you end up downtown for dinner, Nicky Blanes is our favorite place for a really nice romantic cocktail! We like to go before dinner before it gets crowded and smokey, as it can late at night.  http://www.nickyblaines.com/

I would be happy to provide more details about any of these places if you'd like more info! Have a wonderful time!

  • For the Northside, I recommend Amalfi and Fleming's.
    Matt loves Munkii!!!
  • Happy Anniversary!

Rick's Boatyard is a great suggestion.  Husband & I love to eat there!

Downtown:  We really like St.Elmos, Harry & Izzys, Weber Grill, Oceanaire & McCormicks.  I have heard great things about 14 West.

A great website I love using is Urban Spoon.  You can look up Indianapolis & then look at different neighborhoods & types of food & price range.  Also people write reviews on different places.

  • Eddie Merlot's on 96th and Keystone is my all time fav- it's pricey but has option of dinner for two meals- the food is great and well worth the money- we only go on special occasions which is about maybe every year or two! Congrats on your first year! Happy Anniversary!

I COMPLETELY agree with Mrs.Palmison's recommendations... My one suggestion is that Mama Carolla's can be hard to get into-small restaurant (I don't believe they take reservations). But so worth the wait.

I'm also partial to Rick's Boatyard, cause that's where DH and I had our first date and where he asked me to marry him.

I would also suggest Palamino downtown, but it's been a while since I've been here.

And if you wanted a little bit of a hike, I would suggest Pipers (on the southside off of US37)
