I asked MH to " hit the pound sign" on my phone and he had no idea what I was talking about....when I pointed to the symbol he said " thats a hash mark"....uhhh never heard that before!

I just googled and it is called a hash mark (or hatch mark) and is a mathematical notation. So you're both right! I voted for "pound sign". LOL

Hmmm maybe. He does have a lot of "British English" sayings that he says since he is from Dubai. I just thought it was weird/funny.
