Birth Story & PIP Repost for Pinky
Pinky, here's what I posted on other boards (MM , H&F, the bump) .last week. Sorry to anyone who's already ready this. We're home ! Here's our Birth Story:10:30 am - We went in for our 39 week appointment on Monday morning. My OB had been concern because the baby was out of room and the amniotic fluid levels were really low. Basically my placenta was getting tired, so I had to get induced immediately while Kirklette was still safe.11:00 am- Admitted into Labor and Delivery. No Dilation,No Effacement1:00 pm - Give an pill for induction. It was inserted vaginally. I was surprised. If the pill didn't soften the cervix, then a balloon type device would be inserted to widen the cervix. 4:00 pm - 3 cm dilated & contractions. No need for the balloon (yay!). Offered an epidural. Turned it down. My water is broken by the nurse midwife. There is very little fluid, since levels were low to begin with. 6:00 pm 6 cm dilated & contractions. Offered an epidural. Accepted it just in case. 6:00pm - 1:00 am - full dilation/ full effacement. More contractions. I mainly tried to sleep.Tuesday 2:00 am - Time to push. By 2:30 we can see baby's hair. My OB arrives. We think Kirklette will come out by 3:00am2:30 am - Kirklette gets stuck. Her vitals are good so we keep pushing.3:00 am - still stuck - keep pushing4:00 am - still stuck - keep pushing5:00 am - still stuck - keep pushing5:50 am - still stuck. The epidural has worn off twice. I'm getting a bit tiref, but we keep pushing.5:53 am - Kirklette frees herself, the Mr. Kirkette see's the top of her forehead.5:54 am - Kirklette pushes herself all the way out in 60 second, and is placed in my arms. After almost 4 hours of pushing, Leila Bianca (aka Kirklette) weighs 6 lbs 7 oz, and is 19 3/4 inches. Although she is on the small, she was a big baby for my little body. If I hadn't worked out so religiously during pregnancy, I would not have been able to be strong during the 4 hours of pushing ( no yelling, crying, sweating, complaining, nothing). It really wasn't that bad.Unfortunately, I wound up with 2nd degree tears, lots of blood loss, and massive swelling. It took an hour to stitch me back together. However, we are both happy and healthy so it was worth it !
