Baltimore nestie looking for restaurant recs

Hi ladies... I'll be down in Charleston and Myrtle Beach in a few weeks for a few nights and have been looking for some great restaurants to check out. Any suggestions? We'll be there for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Thanks!

Re: Baltimore nestie looking for restaurant recs

  • For Charleston here's my list:

    High Cotton

    Slightly North of Broad

The Wreck of Richard and Charlene

    Magnolia's

    Blossom

    Cypress

Although I haven't eaten there, I've heard great things about Peninsula Grill.

  • If you're going to be in the Myrtle Beach area, venture over to Murrells Inlet. You can't go wrong with just about any of the restaurants on the marsh walk. My favorites are Bovines (amazing steak), Dockside (seafood), Divine Fish House (seafood- we had our rehearsal dinner there), and Prosser's BBQ (great on Sundays!). Liberty is in Myrtle Beach and it's really yummy. If you want a hamburger, try River City Cafe. They have various locations throughout the beach. California Pizza has great pizza. And if you want a good breakfast, go to Akel's pancake house. Broadway at the Beach has a lot of restaurant choices, and they have fireworks every Tuesday night, I think. They also have great clubs/nightlife.

My husband and I recently ate at the Morgan Creek Grill in Isle of Palms just outside of Charleston. They have a really great Sunday brunch, and I've heard the dinner is yummy as well. I've heard that Charleston Place restaurant is good, Poogan's Porch (downtown), as well as some of the others mentioned in the previous post.

  • If your in Pawleys Island you have to try Franks Outback it is so good!!!! My Favorite in the Myrtle beach/Georgetown area.

I also agree on Capt Dave Dockside in Murrells and Also the Salt Creek Cafe is really good.. There is Also Bisto 217 in Murrells and it is really good

Liberty is really good one of my All time Favs

Villa Roma in Myrtle is the Best Italian by far

  • Poogan's Porch is good. I love the meaning behind the name, so I had to go there when we first moved here. I also liked 82 Queen and love Magnolia's.

Fleet Landing is good- BIL and gf really liked it when we took them. My friend just gave us a glowing review on Fat Hen. Jestine's is a must for casual, local dining and I liked Social's wine selection and appetizers.

I found SNOB (Slightly North of Broad) and The Wreck to be totally overrated.

We will be going to the Sunday Jazz Brunch at High Cotton for father's day since I have heard great things about that place.

  • I live in Charleston and here are my faves  ($=cheap, $$=average, $$$ a bit pricey, $$$$ expensive!)

High Cotton- All time favorite dinner place. Awesome seafood, great steaks, great atmosphere. $$$

Garibaldi's- Italian place on market street. Go here if you want Italian, not Bocci's!! The food at Bocci's is so bland. $$

Wild Wing- Casual dining: wings, sandwiches, salads. $

    Charleston Place- Upscale dining, $$$$

    Hominey Grill- Breakfast/Brunch- $

    Charleston Crab House- $$

Social Wine Bar- Tapas, a few entrees, pizza, and awesome wine selections. $

Bessinger's BBQ- Awesome BBQ place in West Ashley, just over the bridge from downtown Charleston. $

Enjoy your stay here in the Lowcountry!

  • You've gotten some great Charleston reccommendations.

    I'd add -

Amen Street - newish restaurant on East Bay for seafood, appetizers, fresh oysters, calamari, and fish, pretty cool atmosphere

Venture to Sullivan's Island and hit either Poe's for burgers/fish tacos, Hometeam barbeque (pulled pork nachos), High Thyme (a little fancier - awesome tuna), Atlanticville for dinner.

  • Thank you for the wonderful suggestions! I'm looking forward to trying out some of these places.

  • Poogan's Porch for authentic southern food at lunch

Penninsula Grill or Magnolia for romantic dinner

Fleets Landing or Coast for seafood

Tristan, the Triangle (West Ashley) or Rue de Jean for brunch

Girabaldi or Al di La (West Ashley) for Italian

Do not get sucked into Hyman's Seafood, it is garbage
