Ugghhh...I wish Brian didn't tell me about the bad call

I feel just sick for Galarraga. He (and the ump) will live with this call the rest of their lives.

For non-Tigers fan, Galarraga had a perfect game going until the 9th inning, two outs, and the Ump called the runner safe, when he CLEARLY wasn't costing Galarraga a pefect game, something I think that has only happened like 20 times.

  • It's been reported that the ump has apologized to Galarraga and feels absolutely horrible. Such a tough situation all around.

I can honestly say that I feel bad for both involved...although you could see Galarraga head to the base way before the runner....I just don't even see how the call could have been made. I was expecting to see a close call.

  • Yeah, that was a horrible call.  MH was so crabby after that game, and who is ever pissed after a win?  I basically went in the other room and stayed away.  That's how mad he was. Poor Galarraga.

  • My stomach still aches.  I'm serious (and I know that's ridiculous).  I know Jim Joyce feels awful, and I'm not that angry with him.  I really just feel horrible for Gallaraga with a side of sympathy for the ump because I know he feels bad.

I just recapped Andy and I's experience watching the game in a blog post.

  • They showed it on th news this morning and played the audio of the ump apologizing. I think I feel the worst for the ump because he screwed up big time, he knows it and it's being replayed ALL over. Gallaraga knows he had a perfect game.

  • Just an update, Gallaraga walked the lineup card out to Joyce at today's afternoon game, shook hands, and the fans applauded.
  • My husband was devastated about the blown call.

My mother was in a state of shock mixed with sadness.

My grandpa has serious blood pressure problems and I was afraid he was going to put himself in the ER.

It wasn't a good night for my sports-fan family.

THAT WAS SUCH A BAD CALL!

    But.

I LOVED Galarraga's response to the whole thing. What a gracious man.
