How do I know what kind of drainage my garden has?
I've seen flowers that say they require good drainage, others say other things about the drainage level of the soil. How do I know what I have?

Where are you located? Here in Virginia I have pretty heavy clay soil. There are some simple tests you can do to test your garden drainage. Here are two.
It rarely hurts to amend your soil - to do this you add compost, leaf mold, peat, and other soil lighteners to increase drainage if you have a lot of clay. If you have sandy soil, you will actually do the same since sandy soil holds little nutrients and you need to enrich your soil for your plants.
