Growing tomatoes outside.
So, I live in central BC. Does anyone know of a way of growing tomatoes outside? Have they tried it? We don't have a greenhouse. UGH.
Currently, my transplants I started in dirt cookies are a bit of a fail and I am wondering if I should even try buying a couple tomato plants from a greenhouse.

Melting Snow... because it means that spring is actually on the way and it's not snowing or cold.

This is Jen&Joe06. I still can't post under my regular sn because of the stupid problems with the Nest today.
I have 3 tomato plants growing right now in our garden. I bought them as seedlings from a nursery. Just make sure you put one of those tomato things that go around the seedling so the vines can grow up them. They are 99 cents at Canadian tire and look like a wire basket (tall and cone shaped).
They need lots of sun and watering every couple of days. Make sure you fertilize the soil too.
We've been working at this for years... and finally had minor success last year.
We tried planting them in pots in an effort to keep the do away from them, but have had no luck there. Last year, when we gave up on the dying plant in the pot we transplanted it to the corner of o our garden and then out of no where the plants thrived and we even had tomatoes last year.
This year we've planted a handful of plants in the garden, so we'll see how that goes.
We've never tried growing anything from seed, we just buy the small plants from the local garned store.
