Where do you store your toothbrush?

I hope it's not on the bathroom sink, Eeeewwwwwww...

The worst place (to store your toothbrush): Bathroom sink

There's nothing wrong with the sink itself, but it's awfully close to the toilet! There are 3.2 million microbes per square inch in the average toilet bowl, and all of those germs are propelled as far at 6 feet every time you flush. Those germs then settle on the floor, the sink, and yes -- your toothbrush.

Best place: Unless you like rinsing with toilet water, keep your toothbrush behind closed doors in the medicine cabinet or a nearby cupboard.

We do store our toothbrush on the sink, but in our toothbrush holders and not directly on the sink because I don't like putting anything directly on the sink. In our bathroom, the toilet is in a separate room with the shower, while the sink is outside the door to the toilet/shower room, so I don't think the toilet germs actually reaches the sink. But if your toilet is next to your sink in your bathroom, what if you always put down the lid when you flush? Then wouldn't it not propel to the sink either?

  • It's on the counter in its charger.  The toilet is in another room, but perhaps I should still consider getting it a little cover....like those ones that snap on to the brush part.
  • I'm with Amy on this one.  Best dang toothbrush ever!

Honestly, I worry more about the cash I carry in my hands or restaurant employees that don't wash their hands and then handle my food.  Yikes!

  • We store them on the counter, we just put down the toilet lid before flushing.
  • I have a similar toilet/sink configuration as the pp's.  Our sink is outside of the room that houses our toilet and tub/shower.  I also freshen up my toothbrush every so often by dipping it in hydrogen peroxide.
  • We keep ours on the sink, but our toilet is in it's own little separate room, so I don't worry about germs from flushing. Smile
