Nurses come in
I love my job. I have about 2000 "patients", summers off, ok hours. There are some things I hate, as all jobs have, but I am pretty satisfied. In the past 2 weeks we have had some major medical emergencies on campus, and it helped me remember why I came into nursing in the first place- that quick split second thinking that saves lives and knowing that you did your job well afterwards. I'll def need some more school if I do this because I'm only an LVN , but It's made me think about going back to the hospital. I know we have some nurses here so:
what unit/ area of nursing do you work in?
what do you love/hate about it?
Would you go to a different area/ unit right now if you could?
I'm especially curious about ER or Trauma. TIA

FINALLY I can post!!! This may be dumb but I didn't know what a LVN was until I looked it up... in MI we call ours LPN's. Anyways...
I am a Nursing assistant for now, I will graduate in December with my RN. I am on a resource team at work so I get to float all over the hospital to different units depending on where they need me.
I love that I am never on the same floor 2 days in a row (usually) and I get to see all sorts of different things...It is awesome to get to work in our level 1 trauma center and some of the crazy things that come in through the ER doors. I do not like that I am not part of any floor so I usually feel like an outsider when I am on a floor. I honestly never feel like I belong anywhere and as part of resource team we don't have a "home floor" and I don't get an opportunity to have any "work" friends.
Once I graduate I have to go to a regular floor nursing because you have to be a nurse for atleast a year before you can go to resource team... so I am hoping to get into the ICU, ER, or LD... those are also the hardest floors to get onto and I am crossing my fingers I will land a position once I am done. :-)
