Green Confessions Friday

The board is sooooo slow, let's do some green confessions! Here's mine:

I am seriously considering giving up on natural deoderant, even though the Aluminum in conventional deoderant is linked to Alzheimer's (sp) of which I have a family history.  I have tried every.natural.deoderant on the market and they just don't work, and I'm 5'3" 140 lbs with an office job. It's not like I'm stinky.  I've tried:

-Alba

-Jason's

-Tom's of Maine

-Burt's Bees

-Crystal (worked the best out of them all, but it has Aluminum!)

-Arm & Hammer

-Natural & Organic (with organic hemp oil)

-Nourish (with organic Orange Oil)

-Kiss My Face liquid rock

Re: Green Confessions Friday

  • Have you tried Baileys on ETSY (I think that is the spelling). I do stink. :-/ and I have found it works really really well. I also have good luck with Gudonya if I reapply once in the day.

  • I think I'm going back to traditional antiperspirant, too.  I just can't stand the sweatiness.  And hell, it's only been in the 60s this spring.

    My confession:

My couch smells like dog.  We're selling it to my cousin in about two weeks.  My spray bottle of white vinegar and water has gone MIA, and I was planning on using it to try and get the smell out.  But, since it's MIA and it doesn't seem to work that great anyway for this purpose, I'm thinking about buying some Febreze.  Embarrassed

Also, we're watching a puppy right now, and when she gets into trouble and I scold her our wonderfully amazing dog thinks she's in trouble.  So I'm thinking about letting her back up on the couch (we started kicking her off on June 1st) because I feel bad, even though it will just continue the stinky cycle.

  • Have you tried making your own. 1 part baking soda 3 parts corn starch.......it's the best thing I have found so far. It doesn't work 100% but it keeps the stinky nasties away for most of the day. I would say by the end of the day I smell natural body odor, but not the kid of odor that drives people to say "you stink." I apply it with a makeup brush since it's a powder.

  • here's my confession. i REALLY want to buy a lawn mower. We barely have any lawn in our tiny yard, but I just hate the way the Reel mower cuts it. I want it to look nice and not have weeds in it, but its not ever going to happen. My DH told me that we could buy an electric mower if I really wanted one, but they are kind of expensive.
  • Kiss My Face liquid rock is the only one that works for me of the ones you listed.  What scent do you use?  The patchouli makes me smell like I have a little B.O.. but the lavendar is ok and I smell good :)

As for confessions.. ugh.. I love prepackaged stuff for the kids.  Stuff that is super duper convenient.

  • I am THIS.CLOSE. to taking up my roommate on her offer to buy us enough plastic utensils and paper plates to make it through the next two months. My schedule right now only puts me at home between 20 minutes to 3 hours a day(that's including sleep time), and our kitchen is a disaster. The amount of time it would save me sounds so worth it, but I feel so guilty considering it.

  • I think we're going to use a fogger in the house for fleas.  I've tried everything natural that we can try, and they are significantly reduced, but they are still here!

I don't know what we're going to do about Daisy.  I REALLY don't want to put toxic flea stuff on her, but she can't have fleas all summer!

     :(

After 3 1/2 years of hope and prayers, our sweet baby girl is here! Lilypie First Birthday tickers
  • I bought some naturally raised, pastured chickens from my local farmer where I get my eggs. I was SO excited to get them and made a big deal out of it to my husband. They were expensive. After I got them I was completely grossed out because the neck was still attached. I cooked them and they were horrible - chewy and string and I was so grossed out by thinking about meeting the chickens and then seeing them dead with their neck attached....I couldn't eat them. So I have 4 more expensive chickens in my freezer that I'm never going to be able to bring myself to eat :(
