S & G Poll

Re: S & G Poll

  • Mine is still hanging in my coat closet... dirty. I'm not putting it on because I know the damn thing will be too small.

  • While I voted for its in a box - I'm also pretty sure it wouldnt zip.  I'll save myself the embarrassment and won't ruin the "preservation" my mom paid for.
  • I could probably get into mine thanks to the corset back but it's been preserved and is in a box. I'd rather not mess it up.

  • All this poll did was remind me of the fact that, like Mames, my dress is still hanging up in a closet, dirty and damaged. I always intended on a RTD session but never did it. DH wants me to preserve it. I am leaning toward repairing and selling it. I'm usually a pack rat, but I see no purpose whatsoever in keeping it.  What am I missing there?

I have no idea why I kept mine, my mom took it home from my house after we left for the HM and had it preserved and brought it back to me a month later all boxed up.  I guess because that's what she did with hers.  Not sure what the point is.  Doubt my future daughter will ever want to wear it.

  • My dress is for someone 5'4''. DH is 6'1''.  Chances of my hypothetical daughters being able to wear it are probably less than 1%.

Those are my parents' exact heights. I'm 5'8" and couldn't even have begun to squeeze into my mom's gown never mind the fact that it would have been above my ankles.

  • I votes SS. Mine is still at the dry cleaner. I dropped it off there the day after the wedding and never went to pick it up.

    Ditto again.

And I fit my mother's dress perfectly and she was intensely pressuring me to wear it.  It's not fair to ask a daughter to wear an out-dated 30-year old, un-preserved dress to satisfy selfish anticipations.  She got to pick out a wedding dress and I demanded (and paid for) one for myself.

  • oops duplicate post.

This, but it's actually at my mom's house.

Ditto.  It might fit, but I think I'll spare myself the certainty of trying it on.  Some day I'll get it cleaned... but I also don't see the point in keeping it.  I want to donate it somewhere, but mom and DH are pressuring me to keep it.

  • It is hanging in my closet so every time i open my closet door I see it!  I will be trying it on to make sure it still fits!

  • Mine is under my bed at my parents house. I have no idea what to do with it. I love it, but I'm not really going to wear it ever again.

  • I was planning on doing this as a yearly tradition. But considering I'm 7 months pregnant this year, I had to skip it! :) Maybe next year.
