New composter - am I forgetting anything?

We finally got a bin yesterday and got it all ready with drilling the holes. Since we are in a townhome and very close to our neighbors keeping pests at bay is a big concern, so I went ahead and added some leftover soil I had to cover scraps with. I took out my first haul of green scraps today, and I made sure to add some browns as well for balance. I covered the whole bit with some straw since we've got tons and tons the gardeners keep adding to the back.

I feel like there should be more to it than this. Am I forgetting anything?

Just make sure you mix it once a week.

Mix and water it every couple days.  You want it to be moist, like a wrung-out sponge, but not wet.  If you get ants it's too dry, if you get fruit flies it's too wet.
