Good eve!
I am a beginner and I have a few issues, and I think I am in need of some assistance. I cannot get pics now if needed but will try in the morning unless someone can tell me without them.
Hardy Hibiscus-coming up beautifully, however, DH noticed a leaf or two have a hole in them. Bugs?
Jacob's Ladder Fern- Beautiful, blooming, but a few of the bottom leaves are yellowed.
Hosta (not a clue on the variety type, possibly blue-green?)- again, hole in leaves, only a few and some on the same area are almost "torn up"
Jalepeno plant- One of them, though watered, the leaves are curling inwards and I believe that again, there were some holes. The other that I am concerned over had a few holes.
Now, if it matters, these plants are not all next to each other, the fern and hibiscus are close but otherwise the others are in separate areas of my yard.
I do have some things in my shed. My MIL was foreclosed on last year, which is where I got most of my plants, and I was also given her gardening stuff since I was just getting my toes wet. I know for sure there is "Sevin Dust" out there, but don't know if thats what I should use on all of them, or even how to go about it. Normally, I'd have her come but she's been super busy and I hate to trouble her right now.
I appreciate any and all help. I am feeling a wee bit dejected from this, despite all of the other plants doing better in my yard than they did in hers!
Re: Help! Bugs? or what?
posting photos would be helpful. you need to know the pest (for sure) before you start applying stuff.
also, a hole in a leaf or two, IMO, isn't a reason to use chemicals or even be overly concerned. i mean, it's a garden. there are bugs & plants can deal with a bit of insect damage (just like you can deal with a mild cold). I would advocate keeping an eye on things, but I wouldn't reach for the Sevin at the first hole.

Jacob's Ladder Fern- Beautiful, blooming, but a few of the bottom leaves are yellowed. I am not 100% sure, but I think all ferns bottom leaves yellow (due to lack of sunlight)
