we have the food, and cake  and the candy display in the inside of the house(dining room/kitchen area) for our son's first bday barbeque?  the dining room/kitchen flows out to the french doors that lead to the backyard. the reason why I was thinking of doing that is b/c I know that it is a pain in the neck to try to keep the flys and bugs out of the food. I would also have the cake and candy buffet nicely displayed in the house and the tables, chairs, and the grill would be in the backyard.

Not at all!  I think it is smart to keep your food covered.

Not tacky at all.  It's much better for the food not to have bugs and to be at a safe temperature.  Most of our BBQs are like this anyway.

Agreed. We had a party Memorial Day weekend and 99% of our guests hung out outside but all the food was inside. No one had issues going in for the food and coming back out. It definitely kept the food safer!

i don't see why it would be tacky.

but just rememebr that the doors will be opening and closing...and most people will probably leave them open, so you will get some bugs inside.

I don't think it's tacky at all.  You might however wind up with a bunch of flies in your house from people coming and going.
